Wow, this year is already in full swing and I'm trying to keep up with it.
Jim had his surgery and so far his diabetes is in remission. YEA! We are both following his diet that is mostly protien and very low carb. So far for him this has also meant that he hasn't needed the pain meds he was taking for his arthritis pain. Overall he is doing very well and losing weight.
I'm losing some, not as much as I'd like, but then I'm eating a bit more than him as well.
It was great getting this months Reader's Digest and seeing our diet being advocated as well. I wonder if a lot of diabetes and over weight problems and joint pain could be avoided if everyone got off so much carbs (esp. the wheat, corn, potatoes, rice) and got into the high protien. The rule of thumb his nutritionist gave us is 3 bites of protien for every bite of carb, and avoid the starchy carbs as much as possible, as well as no sugar.
Also Jim was starting to have kidney problems before the surgery, and this diet seems to be helping with that as well.
This year I'm promising myself to do more with my photography and writinig.
One thing I have done is to update another blog site I have called Feline Foibles with WordPress at http://justjudy.wordpress.com/ . On this site I will be adding article related to pets and particularly our cats.
Another venture is with Suite101 where I will be putting up articles. My first was published there today. http://www.suite101.com/content/what-to-do-if-your-loved-one-is-arrested-a333496
I have also started putting photos up on a couple of stock photo sites.
All this is new for me and I'm hoping I can keep myself motivated to keep going in this direction.
November 2010 wow, it's been a year
Hard to believe it's been a year since I even stepped onto this page.
My life (as a retired person), if full and in some ways busier than it was when I was working. My days lately begin and end it seems with FENA, Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America, a tractor organization that centers around Ferguson tractors. I also handle their memorabilia and shows and this year Jim helped them design and put up a new website. Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America
Our kitty population also grew with the additon of a new kitten. this makes 6 for us.
Roam Meow who is an in and out cat, thinks he's a dog and loves to ride on our shoulders.
Missy who tried to demand her place at the table and loves her ears rubbed.
Yes, life is taken a day at a time and it's good, when you don't sweat the small stuff.

We also have our own Tractor Pull and Show here in Page and that keeps us busy. This year we finally organized a tractor club for Page. Page Antique Tractor and Machinery Club, PAT&MC. Jim and his friends handle the labor part of setting up and running an event like this every year and I handle advertising and communications. PAT&MC
On a more personal level Jim is going to have bariactric surgery in December to not only lose some weight but to help him get off his diabetic medicines.

Snoopy who took over the kitten's education, and the new kitten, Skeeter, who has so much personality and is so lovable that if we had never know she existed, we would have know something was missing in our lives.
